About the CM Trenches Blog

What is “From The Civic Mirror Trenches” blog about?
Basically this blog will showcase, celebrate, and announce the most noteworthy happenings that relate to The Civic Mirror. It will …

1. Broadcast What’s Happening in Civic Mirror Countries.
We want to broadcast the most significant news and events coming out of The Civic Mirror Trenches (i.e. the student-run countries on civicmirror.com)! If you are a Civic Mirror participant and have a great story, or a news headline, or you want to sound-off about someone or something in your simulated country, or you want to leak a scandal, or you just want to show your country off, email us your story, your picture, your YouTube video at info@action-ed.com and you never know … it just might make the front page of civicmirror.com for the whole world to see.

2. Allow Participants to Share What They’ve Learned.

The Civic Mirror provides learning opportunities that most other educational programs simply can’t. We would love nothing more than for you to share your special insights and/or experiences on this blog for everyone to see. Believe it or not, not only will visitors be able to learn a lot from the insights you share from your experiences in The Civic Mirror, but there’s lots of people out there who will really enjoy reading what you’ve learned and experienced too! Your “lesson learned” can be about anything really, and it can be in any format (e.g. a story, picture, YouTube video, etc). It might be about

  • law, justice, and the legal system;
  • politics and government;
  • the meaning of citizenship and what it entails;
  • economic issues like price regulations, who should own what, and government involvement;
  • the environment;
  • taxes and personal finance;
  • human nature;
  • life in the real world;
  • ethics, morality, and social responsibility;  etc.

If you feel you have something worth sharing, email it to us at info@action-ed.com.

3. Special Announcements
As The Civic Mirror grows, we will use this blog to announce important news and events. We will keep you updated on improvements to the game, upcoming Civic Mirror events and workshops, and so on … but we would love for your help with this too. For example, if you are a CM participant and your simulated country makes the local newspaper or TV News, let us know so we can broadcast it here. If you are an educator and are presenting The Civic Mirror in your school, or district, or at a conference, let us know and we’ll share the news with the rest of the CM Community.

4.  Other Things We Haven’t Thought of Yet.
Certainly we are missing some ways that this blog could be used. So, if you have some ideas, suggestions, or anything that might help us improve The Civic Mirror Trenches blog, email us at info@action-ed.com.
